My few words of encouragement are found in the waiting...
My five-year-old, three-year-old, ten-month-old and I spent an hour shopping in Walmart today before reaching the check-out line, then waited another forty-five minutes to check-out! Typically after shopping way too long, by the time we get to the check out line, we're ready to get out of there! Plenty of previous shopping encounters with all three children would have determined this occurance to be unruly with melt-downs, pulling the hair out of my head, and non-verbally pleading with the loitering check-out lady to HURRY! This time, however, was different.
What was in the waiting? We played the game "I spy," had a few hugs and giggles, and the reward I promised when they got home came in handy to re-direct focus from time to time. I can't say the time flew by but, our experience was good!
So, what is in the waiting for you? Is it anxiety, melt-downs, demanding that God hurry on your behalf? Or is it living and loving in the moment, and trusting that there is a reward at the end of this wait?
Be blessed!
What a great reminder as well! I'll think of you next time i'm in a long line with my 3.
