A New Years Prayer

My Jesus and Heavenly Father,

When I reflect upon the past year, and life for that matter, I continue to be amazed by the story that you have woven together so beautifully with each chapter of my life. Although I try to meander the way so often on my own, fumbling through chapters like I know something about love, life and joy outside of you, I am dumb-founded by the miraculous scene painted before me with hues and expressions that go beyond my comprehension. A scene that I trace back to moments when I have simply and humbly surrendered the pen to you. Moments I could not see beyond enough to scribble one more insignificant word.

Lord, you are undeniably the author of my life. You have given me more than I deserve. More than I have ever asked for. Yet I selfishly want more, like a child on Christmas morning who receives so abundantly that after the last present is opened, the child glances around in hopes to retrieve just one more. Unlike Christmas morning, however, there is no end to your abundance. Your blessings. Your grace. Your mercy. They are new every morning.

This year, I will allow my heart room to feel something mysteriously bubbling inside, my eyes vision to see something oddly new, and my ears depth to hear something wildly enlightening. And if I dare write anything, I will dare only to write your answer.

Thank you for loving me enough to sketch in the details of my life - and day-to-day if I look closely enough - not just the overall picture. My heart is brimming with excitement over what you have to say for this next chapter, this next year of my life. I am thoroughly in love with you, Jesus.  My God and heavenly father. I am yours.

Your cherished daughter,
Theresa

  2. Theresa, I am so glad you linked this up. You help me see Him and make me feel so gathered up, in His love. So wonderful, also, to look back at a year ago, as we look ahead to what He brings. Thank you!
